“My goal, at least 1 billion yuan!"  Liang Wenmei is not Wang Jianlin, four years ago, she just got her first foreign trade purchase order - 500 sweaters. Before that, her trade company did not have a penny for entirely 2 years. But in deeply mind of Liang Wenmei, company's annual turnover reached 100 million yuan is just a small goal.

More than 20 years ago, newly married Liang Wenmei and Su Mingyuan couples, left their hometown in Sichuan with 300 RMB to Guangzhou and started their business. They ever woven sweaters at factory, operated loom in rental room, and run small store in wholesale market.

In 2005, Liang Wenmei was keenly aware that a group of customers suddenly appeared in Guangzhou market, they have the same accent and picked up goods in an amazing amount. After several inquiries, Liang Wenmei first time heard about the name of the "Pu Yuan", a small town in Zhejiang province, she immediately decided to leave the old market in Guangzhou and moved to the new one.

After running a small store in Pu Yuan for few years, Liang Wenmei had a new idea , "I want to do global business and sell our wool sweaters to foreign countries." In 2013, Liang Wenmei used all her treasure for establishing of  Zhejiang Kangying Clothing Co., Ltd., which is specializd in foreign trade business.

However, difference in profession makes one feel worlds apart, Liang Wenmei didn’t have any foreign trade business experience, it makes her company have no business for two years.

 

Change appeared in 2015. “I want to thank my first client, who taught me how to do foreign trade business.” at the Canton Fair of that year, Liang Wenmei received her first order from Canada, 500 sweaters, it worth more than 20,000yuan. Liang Wenmei used to be a self-employed person, did not know what a formal invoice was and did not see any formal forms. "Every email sent by a Canadian customer, every form I received were quickly saved, then I learned, business is like this." Liang Wenmei said.

Soon, Liang Wenmei had business in United States. “In 2015, I received an purchases order from TJX Company of United States, which is also 500 pieces. It is a famous brand. After that, we have more and more cooperation. Now what they give me are big order of more than 100,000 pieces a year. It is sure more orders are coming.” Liang Wenmei told reporters. Since then, more and more  American customers do business with her company. Last years, 60% of company’s 16 million yuan turnover are from American order.

When asked by reporters,  facing to the increasing of tariffs, whether she worried about the stability of customers and the prospect of profit, Liang Wenmei said loudly:

"it doesn't have much influence on me, I don't worry about it. First of all, my products are unique in style and I spend a lot of money on style development every year. It is difficult for Southeast Asian countries to make these styles. USA customers have no way to change suppliers."

Because her products do not follow homogenization trend and have strong competitiveness, Liang Wenmei has a strong voice when negotiating with customers.

"Why don't I worry about it ? The second point is all my foreign trade orders are signed as 'FOB' price, it means I just need to deliver goods to port in Shanghai to complete the task. Fee of outside of Shanghai port, including freight, tariff and other cost have nothing to do with me."

So, who will pay the

 

new tariff? Will American merchants reduce orders for coming year because of lower profits? "They had to raise prices, and finally American consumers pay for it." Liang Wenmei told reporters that her company had not lost any American customers, but increased a lot. In the first half of this year, her company even got an impressive 80% increase in performance.

On August 13th, at the clothing show in Las Vegas, Liang Wenmei's received an unprecedented harvest “The merchants are very interested in my products, there are many customers who place orders and take samples on the spot. My email response rate has also reached 50%. It is expected that five or six companies will be converted into long-term customers.” Liang Wenmei laughs, She said: "When I was at the bank this morning, I received a call from the United States, saying that I would like to come to our company to see the products in October, which is very likely of further cooperation."

Even though, Liang Wenmei is not contented current situation, and new plan was come out. In order to get closer to customers, Liang Wenmei just opened a branch office in Los Angeles last month, so that she can pursue bigger market in the United States.

"The market is so big, no matter what kind of friction, as long as products are nice, no need to worry about it, I believe that small goal of 100 million yuan can be reached very soon." Liang Wenmei laughed and said to the reporter: "Everything is just beginning!"
